About Me
My name is Ms. Moonier and I was born in Anaheim, California. My family moved to Phoenix, Arizona when I was a child. I attended Northern Arizona University and earned my Bachelors Degree in Education with an emphasis in Earth Science in 2011. I moved to Raleigh last summer to get out of the desert and be closer to my boyfriend, best friends and god children.
I have taught in 1st and 2nd grade for over 6 years and am thrilled to be apart of Green Magnet Elementary teaching 2nd Grade! Prior to becoming a teacher I was a Youth & Teen Librarian with the Scottsdale Public Library. The library is where I discovered my passion for working with children. Many times students would say they wished I was their teacher. Hearing this so frequently is what truly inspired me to pursue teaching.
When I’m not busy with school I enjoy hiking with my dog Duke, practicing yoga, playing video games, drawing and painting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I also make sure to eat pho weekly and never turn down an opportunity to hit a few targets at the range. I love to read, some of my favorite books are Stardust, Inkheart, Evolution, Me & Other Freaks of Nature, The Glass Castle, Sideway Stories from Wayside School, The Hunger Games, and The Lorax. A few movies I could never watch too much would be The Dark Crystal, The Goonies, UP!, WallE, Hot Rod, and Step Brothers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar & Spaceballs.
